Educators working collaboratively at a CEMC event

The CEMC is thrilled to announce that registrations are now open for the Summer Conference for Computer Studies and Mathematics Educators, taking place from August 12 to August 14, 2025, at the University of Waterloo.

About the Conference

This three-day, in-person event offers a rich selection of interactive and hands-on sessions tailored for educators in computer studies and mathematics. Attendees can customize their experience by selecting sessions based on topics of interest.

Computer Studies Sessions

Designed for secondary school computer studies educators, these sessions provide practical resources for implementing computer science and computer technology curricula. Most sessions are hands-on or lab-based, offering educators an opportunity to explore software, hardware, and teaching strategies with experienced presenters who actively use these tools in their own classrooms. Elementary school educators with an interest in computer studies are also welcome to attend.

Mathematics Sessions

Mathematics sessions are designed for educators teaching Grades 7 to 12, with dedicated sessions for Grades 7-8 and Grades 9-12 running concurrently. Educators of Grades K-6 who are interested in mathematics education are encouraged to participate.

Sessions are highly interactive, fostering discussion, collaboration, and networking. Topics may include pedagogy, enrichment, technology integration, problem-solving, and curriculum connections.

What to Expect

Participants will stay on campus for three days, attending engaging lectures, interactive labs, and networking events that introduce innovative teaching strategies and resources. No pre-registration for individual sessions is required — attendees are free to join any session with available space.

Hear from Past Participants

Educators from across Canada attend this annual conference. Here’s what they have to say about their experience:

This was my first time at this summer conference and it was very refreshing to collaborate face to face with other computer science teachers. The social activities both evenings were very thoughtful. Thanks for the good time and effort put into the organization of this event :)
