Our story began in 1963 when a group of math educators created the first mathematics contest for students in Ontario. Today, we have increased the breadth of our offerings to include many other tools and resources, workshops, educator conferences and more. We create resources that anyone can use, from students and educators to parents and guardians.
A team of experts
Housed in the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, the CEMC includes more than 40 dedicated faculty and staff members, and hundreds of committed volunteers with a passion for education and for making mathematics and computer science learning available to students and educators worldwide.
CEMC impact
Empowering students
We are committed to giving students the tools they need to build their confidence, grow their problem-solving skills and get excited about mathematics and computing.
From workshops to contests to online resources that help build confidence and enable students to stretch their limits, we provide a wide range of tools to students to enhance their knowledge in mathematics and computing.
Supporting educators
We believe that educators play a crucial role in enriching their students’ learning experiences. Therefore, we conduct conferences and organize marking events to provide educators with professional development opportunities. These activities aim to facilitate knowledge sharing and skill enhancement.
Additionally, we offer a variety of online resources, including video lessons and downloadable problem sets, available for free on our website.
Creating an impact
Together, we can inspire the next generation of leaders, launch impactful new programs and empower math and computing education globally through our initiatives. Learn about how you can get involved with the CEMC today through giving, sponsorship, volunteering or sharing our resources.
