Lloyd Auckland Invitational Mathematics Workshop

The Lloyd Auckland Invitational Mathematics Workshop is held annually for students who perform well on the Fermat contest. Since its inception in 1965, this prestigious workshop has provided a platform for math enthusiasts to foster connections, enhance problem-solving skills, and cultivate a deeper appreciation for mathematics.

Intended Audience

Grade 11 students from across Canada who exhibit strong performance in the Fermat contest are invited to apply to the workshop.

Dates and Location

This annual workshop takes place every June at the University of Waterloo. In 2024, the workshop will take place from Sunday, June 2 to Saturday, June 8. Selected students will have the opportunity to stay at one of the University residences during the course of the workshop.

Program Schedule

The Lloyd Auckland Invitational Mathematics Workshop is a week-long learning experience for students with new mathematical content, engaging problem-solving sessions, and enjoyable social activities. The workshop offers a unique platform to connect with talented math students from all over Canada, along with esteemed faculty members and University of Waterloo students.

Application and Selection Process

Based on their performance in the Fermat contest, students are selected and invited to apply for the Auckland workshop. Then approximately 70 students from the applied candidates are selected and invited to register and attend the workshop.

Fee

The workshop registration fee is $250 per participant. This includes any applicable taxes, meals and accommodation. Financial support to cover the cost of the workshop may be arranged for students in need. Long-distance travel (flights, trains, etc) will be arranged and covered by the CEMC.
